Poor Cleaning & Dirty Water

My Electrolux icon dishwasher edw5505eps is not cleaning properly. Also there is always cloudy water at the bottom of the tub. Is there a filter which I can clean? Is this a drain problem. Are there things I can do to correct these issues? Should I call a repairman? OR...because the dishwasher is 8-9 years old should I replace it?
