Hi, the 6.4 IR/UHF Pro remote is not a universal remote but it can be programmed to work your VCR. Across the top of the are 4 clear mode buttons. There is one on the right hand side that is marked, VCR/DVD. This is the button you will use to program the remote to your VCR. You will need to find the code for the VCR by manufacturer here:

http://www.mydish.com/support/apps/remotecodes.aspx?WT.svl=gsearch_results

Here are the steps to address the remote to the VCR:

1. Turn the VCR On.
2. Press and hold the clear VCR/DVD Mode button for three seconds until the buttons on top light up. Release the VCR Mode button and it will be flashing.
3. Enter the three-digit code using the buttons on the number pad.
4. Press the pound (#) button under the number 9.

Note: The VCR mode light will flash three times.

Please test the functionality of the remote with the VCR.

Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to fast forward, rewind, or pause the VCR and try the next 3 digit code on the list.

If you have any issues or additional questions, please feel free to e-mail me directly. Thank you!
