Free means free, no $7 charge, you must have gone to the wrong site.

I know Dish will get the site working, try to be a little patient. Go to this page for the promo starting Jan. 17th - Mar. 31st! I just checked the site & it's still not functioning, @ CALL support 1-888-615-3725 to complain! Your free month will not begin until the gift offer is redeemed.
