Dell Vostro 1440 Can't Disable Touchpad

Best way to disable touchpad while typing is by using touchfreeze. I use this on my 3 laptops and it works great. Use the link below to download it:
https://code.google.com/p/touchfreeze/downloads/list
It will disable the touchpad automatically when you will type.
