Instructions
  1. Shut down your Dell computer. Disconnect the power cable and all devices connected to the computer tower.

    • 2

Place the computer on its side and remove the thumb screws protruding from the back panel of the tower. Slide the side access panel away from the computer tower and set it aside.

    • 3

Locate the RAM modules inside your computer. Spread the retaining latches on either side of each module until they are released from their compartments. Lift each module out of their respective memory compartments. Store the RAM modules in static-free plastic bags, if possible.

    • 4

Remove the screws securing the PCI card retention bracket on the rear panel of your computer. Release the locking lever from each PCI connector on the motherboard. Lift the PCI cards out of connectors. Store the PCI cards in static-free plastic bags.

    • 5

Remove the front plastic cover of the computer by locating and disengaging the locking tabs on the inside edge of the cover. Separate the cover from the computer and set it aside.

    • 6

Disconnect the power and data cables from the rear of each drive in the drive bay secured to the front panel of the computer. Remove the retaining screws securing each drive to their respective compartments on the drive bay. Slide each drive out of its individual compartment.

Reassemble the Dell computer tower by following this procedure in reverse.
