I'm sorry no one answered this for you sooner. The Comcast remote needs to be programmed for each device. You click the TV button and then the power button, but first you need to program it to turn it on. If you are using a large cable box you should have one of the larger remotes and also program it to turn the cable box on and off. You can find instructions on programming your remote right here: http://customer.comcast.com/Pages/HelpNFC.aspx?print=false&id=remotes&CMP=KNC-IQ_ID_40061441-VQ2-g-VQ3--VQ6-19684925984&iq_id=46479712

If after going through programming your remote, if it still doesn't work (and there is no problem with your TV), then call and request a new one. Also, check the batteries. Depending on which kind of remote, it either should have come with the number of batteries you need for it, if they aren't already installed into the remote. Good luck!
