Hooking Up A Soundbar
I have a new soundbar for my t.v.. It has a rca jack cord to connect to the tv. When I plug the rca cord into the tv nothing happened.

This TV only has an SPDIF Coaxial output so you'll need to purchase a converter to plug in RCA speakers.

The easy solution is to get an audio DAC.
The correct solution is to get a a sound bar with digital inputs. And yes more than one, as you will connect your digital surround sources to it, if you want proper digital surround, for TV digital out most often passes digital surround only from the built in tuner, and PCM stereo (possibly with matrix surround) from other sources.
