How Do I Remove The Alternator From My Chevy Ventura 2003

    • 1

      Remove the keys from the ignition and let the Venture's engine cool for several hours. Open the hood on the van's engine compartment.

      Use a wrench to unscrew the black cable from the battery located on the front, right side of the engine.

    • 3

      Use a wrench to unscrew the black cable from the side of the alternator located on the back, left side of the engine.

    • 4

      Unscrew the red cable from the side of the alternator with a wrench.

    • 5

      Place a wrench on the center bolt of the spring tension pulley below the alternator. Push down on the pulley to relieve tension in the serpentine belt. Slip the belt off the alternator pulley.

    • 6

      Unscrew the two bolts holding the base of the alternator to the engine block. Remove the alternator.
