1. Canon, at http://www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer_produ..., offers the following:
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Disconnect the power cable.
  3. Open the printer cover.
  4. Check for any orange protective tape or white polystyrene and remove if necessary.
  5. Check that there are no foreign objects in the printer (such as a paper clip) and remove if necessary.
  6. Close the cover.
  7. Reconnect and turn on.

2. Canon has separate instructions for removing paper jams, which may be more helpful than BusterDoogen's answer. See http://kbsupport.cusa.canon.com/system/selfservice.controller?CONFIGURATION=1011&PARTITION_ID=1&secureFlag=false&TIMEZONE_OFFSET=&CMD=VIEW_ARTICLE&ARTICLE_ID=36179.

This error means that either the Ink Cartridges are not being seen as inserted correctly, something is inside the Printer like a piece Paper, or that the Print Head Carriage is malfunctioning. If the Print Head is not making it's way to the changing position, unplug the power and manually move it to the changing position. Make sure that every Ink Cartridge is seated properly and evenly.

I hope this is helpful to you!
