Firmware Updates

can not get the printer to work using my Mac with Lion sayes to download updates, cannot find any that make a change

I believe that it is not a firmware update problem. This is because according to Canon, There is no firmware for the OS version you selected. There might be no compatible driver software installed in your Mac computer with Mountain Lion version of Operating System. You have to download the driver software compatible with this OS version. Please follow the steps below:

1. Visit

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/photo_all_in_one_inkjet_printers/pixma_mg5420#DriversAndSoftware

2. Select the Mac OS

3. Select the OS X 10.8 Moutain Lion

4. Click the Drivers

5. Click the latest driver software available

6. Click the I Agree button to start downloading the latest driver files

7. Install the driver software and restart your computer
