Engine Overheating

Engine is overheating, but has all liquids. Had themostat replaced, but didnt fix the issue. the car overheats after 5 minutes of being turned on, the engine than speeds up and dies out. What could be the issue?

Bad water pump? Check to be sure that the belt that drives the water pump is tight and not slipping. If that looks okay, it could be that your pump has gone bad. A bad pump will usually make some noise, so listen to see if it's squealing or making a grinding sound.

If it isn't the water pump, check to be sure that your cooling fans are working. Not sure if you have one or two fans, but they are designed to come on at a certain temperature. Run the car and see if the fans are operating. Might be a blown fuse, bad fan relay or a bad fan.

Is there white smoke coming out of your exhaust? A thick cloud of white smoke means you have a blown head gasket. That could cause your vehicle to overheat rapidly.
