How Can I Get My Brother Sq9050 To Sew With Elastic Thread? It Gets Stuck.

I have followed a couple of tutorials for this with no luck. I hand wound the bobbin with elastic thread, removed the cover and bobbin holder, tightened the little green screw, and then also pulled the bobbin thread back up to the top. When I begin to sew it creates a nest and gets hung. Any ideas what i could be doing wrong?
