Stitches Are Incorrect

When I put it on zig zag it gives me a hem stitch, another zig zag will stitch back and forth (sideways) but the stitch is just a straight stitch. 14 looks scalloped. Nothing is as it should be. I've tried rethreading, reinserting bobbin, turning off machine, trying different stitches. Help!
