Water Leaking Not Not Caused From Trigger. Leaks From Insde Housing!

You want to be careful that you do not squeeze the trigger on the handle while carrying this because it will open the valve and let water flow out. I have the Bissell Revolution Pet carpet cleaner and it recently started leaking also. There would be a wide trail of water when I carried it or parked it.
Obviously there was a valve stuck open somewhere. I removed the handle (following the opposite procedure for installing the handle described in the owner's manual) and then verified that the valve in the body (at the base of where the handle went) would go down (pushing on it with a screwdriver) and then return up (aided by a spring under the valve I guess).
The valve is a black circular part about 3/4-inches in diameter with a small white square part in the center. So then I knew the problem had to be in the handle. Removing 3 screws at the top of the handle exposed the trigger and the long plastic rod that ran through the handle. I decided that there was too much friction for the valve spring to overcome when trying to push the rod back up against the trigger. I wiped off the white grease (probably lithium grease) from inside the handle and from the contact points on the white connecting rod. Then I lubricated the same places with PTFE (teflon) grease.
The brand I use is called SuperLube. Also lubricated the contact points inside the handle top. Put it back together and everything is working again. If you have strong hands, with a few simple simple hand tools this is about a 1/2 hour project. The easiest way to solve the problem would be to buy a new handle, but they are listed as unavailable on the Bissell web site -- probably because so many people have had this problem that their handle inventory has been depleted.
