Archos Av500 Cannot Format Hard Disk
Hi,Please assist to guide me to format my device.I hv try many time to reformat my disk directly on the device.And each time the format end with cannot read hard disk.Please assistRegardsJoo

There are two ways, 1st go to the setup screen and system and change the USB port from media device to hard drive or vice versa, it will then say it needs to reformat the hard drive. Note I had some hic-ups with mine when it was set to a windows media device and I fine setting it as an external hard drive is much better and means you can manage the files without ghaving to use WMP.
The other way is to attach it to your computer and format it from Windows Explorer, note you have format as a certain type (either a FAT32 or NTFS but I can't remember which), before you refomat check which type you PC says the disk is or it won't work afterwards. Maybe the 1st way of doing it is the more foolproof!
Make sure you have the power adaptor plugged in when doing it.
Lastly before you reformat, have you installed the latest firmware from the Archos website.
