Apple Ipod Classic 160'' I Bought It Used,
it has previous owners name on it and I also want to delete some music he has on it but not all.There is only 40% left. Itunes will not reconize it or something cause it will not list the music when plugged in, it does show old olwners name but that is alll. I am a senior and just want the music and to put audio books on it but need to delete some.

I'm not sure how technical you are, the instructions in the user guide a pretty straightforward and not too complicated.

The manual states that most problems should be able to be fixed by doing a reset. I do not get the impression that this will delete any music, just reset the device.
To reset the iPod classic follow these instructions:
- Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again).
- Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
There are a lot of other troubleshooting suggestions in the manual, it's worth grabbing a copy.
