Acer Travelmate 8471 Will Not Load To Bios
Pushing the power button lights the on/off light. The Acer empowering People screen with 'Press F2 to enter setup' screen loads, then nothing else. Hitting F2, or any other key produces nothing. Power button will turn it off again, but nothing else functions. HD light flashes 3 times between power on and post screen. No beeping occurs. Please advise on any suggestions for the problem or fault and a possible test or solution.

This sounds like a possible bad memory issue. If the RAM is defective the PC will typically have issues during the POST.
It might be an overheat issue too but these asre not typical so early into powering on.
I recommend taking this to a tech since troubleshooting it may become a lot of work.
Off the top of my head I would say it's the CPU, RAM, or corrupted BIOS.
