1. Identify the type of noise:
Is it a rattling, buzzing, whistling, or humming sound?
Does the noise occur at all fan speeds or just specific ones?
2. Check for simple solutions:
Clean the filters: Dirty grease filters can restrict airflow and increase noise. Clean or replace the filters according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Clear ducting: If your hood is ducted out, check for blockages in the ducting hose. Unbend any sharp bends and ensure the diameter is appropriate for your hood's capacity.
Tighten loose components: Vibrations from loose screws or panels can create noise. Check and tighten any loose screws or panels around the motor, impeller, and housing.
3. Consider potential causes:
Worn motor bearings: Over time, motor bearings can wear out, causing increased noise and reduced performance. This might require professional repair or replacement.
Improper installation: If the hood wasn't installed correctly, it can lead to vibrations and noise. Double-check the installation guide and ensure the hood is mounted securely and level.
Damaged impeller: The impeller, which draws air through the hood, can become damaged or unbalanced, causing noise and reduced airflow. This might require replacement.

Examine the Fan Blades and the Surrounding Area for Obstructions: Look for any objects that might be obstructing the airflow or producing noise. Occasionally, dust, debris, or other items may gather and obstruct the fan's ability to function.
Clean the Fan: Use a soft brush or cloth to gently clean the fan blades if there is a buildup of dirt or debris. Before attempting anything, make sure the ventilation system's power is off.

Check the filters: Make sure the filters are clean and not clogged with grease or debris. If they are dirty, clean or replace them as necessary.
Inspect the fan blades: The noise and decreased extraction performance could be due to the fan blades being dirty or damaged. Clean the fan blades and check for any signs of damage.
Check for obstructions: Ensure that there are no obstructions in the ductwork or exhaust vent that could be causing the decreased extraction and increased noise.
Inspect the motor: If the above steps don't resolve the issue, there may be a problem with the motor. Consider contacting a professional to inspect and potentially replace the motor if needed.
Regular maintenance: Lastly, consider scheduling regular maintenance for your cooker hood to keep it functioning optimally.
If the issue persists after trying these steps, it's advisable to seek professional help to diagnose and address the problem with your cooker hood.
