AARP offers many discounts, such as insurance, road side assistance, coupons for eating out, etc.  They also offer all kinds of helpful information, ranging from alerts to online scams to social security updates.  I have been a member for about 6 months now, and I have gotten a lot of very helpful information.  I like it and would recommend it to anyone over 50.  Try it for a year and see for your self, if you don't like it, cancel.  It's inexpensive and well worth the membership to me.
