MacBook Pro 17-inch (original, Core 2 Duo, 2.4/2.6GHz, 2008) Take Apart - Lift upward a few inches, then work your fingers, grasp just beneath the back edge of the top case behind the keyboard or in the upper right and left corners. Top Case 27 Using your fingernails or the tips of your hands around the top case toward you with the display open slightly past 90-degrees. A snapping noise when the clips release is normal. Face the computer toward the front, slowly lifting and encouraging the clips and screw tabs to release.
