Trouble Rebooting Laptop

Sometimes it can be an update that messes it up, amongst other things. Some antivirus updates can also effect a restart.As this has a factory image, you can, if necessary restore to factory condition ', as I suspect you do not have a windows 7 dvd- so the repair could well be accessable from the f11 button on startup. You need to start the laptop, and keep tapping the f11 button to access the recovery console, sometimes it will miss and you need to try a few times to get to it--unless you can borrow a windows 7 dvd.

Before going too far, I would try to save the date on your hard drive- by using a caddy, and reading from another laptop/computer, like these at amazon

First I would tap f11 at startup to see if you can get to the recovery console- If so,  As this was windows 7 , it should offer you a startup repair

The command prompt could help if you have tried others- this link shows how to use it, using bootrec, but you have to be carfeful with it, again.

If you mean it will not shutdown, and restart, then press the control and alt buttons and at the same time tap the delete button. This should give you the small window for task manager. If the application windpw shows first, click onend task on each program that is showing as running, one at a time. If you get a warning asking if you want to force a program to stop , click to do so. This will most likely be a possible cause of the problem.

You can also shut down from the tabs at the top of task manager, and if necessary do a hard shut down by holding the power button down for 10- 15 seconds
