This article provides the steps to retrieve a Yahoo! ID if you forgot or lost the password and cannot sign-in.
ResolutionIf you forget your Yahoo! ID or password, please visit the Yahoo! Password Helper.
The Password Helper verifies your identity and then delivers a "Reset Your Password" link that will be sent to your alternate email address. Use the link to enter your new password into the "Reset Your Password" page.
To ensure the security of your account, please understand that we cannot provide your Yahoo! ID or reset your password if you are unable to verify your identity correctly.
If you are a customer from the United States or Canada, you also have the ability to restore your password is to use your mobile phone or other SMS device -- our article "Recovering a forgotten or lost password from a mobile phone" will walk you through the steps. (This feature is not yet available in our European or Asia/Pacific markets.)
If you find that none of these suggestions resolve your issues, please click Contact Yahoo! on the far right and our Customer Care team will be happy to assist you. You will still need to provide some Account Verification information.
These tips will help if you contact Customer Care about your password issue.
About you:
- Yahoo! ID
Here we need the ID with the issue.
- Email address
For password issues, please do not enter the email address of the account you cannot access. Instead, use any email address where Customer Care can contact you.
Please verify your account information:
Note: All information in this section should match the values on record in your account.
- Birthday
- ZIP or Postal code
- Alternate Email Address
- Secret question and answer
Once your password is restored, please go immediately to Account Info to update your personal information in case of future password problems. Make sure the information under "Choose how Yahoo! contacts you" is correct. Now is a good time to enter a mobile phone number in Account Info as an alternate means of password recovery.
