Sorry, but the previous answer won't work. It is impossible these days to reach a live representative by phoning Yahoo. If you feel you need one-on-one support, this form can invite Yahoo to phone you. (Or pose your question to us at Help Owl!)

Regarding "Why": Only Yahoo's bigwigs could tell you, but I'd guess it's a misguided effort to save money.
