Has your domain name been cancelled or yet to be cancelled? If your domain name is under grace period, You can just renew it by paying some additional fees. The fees may differ according to the registrar. If it has gone out of grace period, Check whether it is still available.

There are many chances for your domain name to be sold for some one else. You can check it by having a whois lookup at http://www.whoisxy.com/ if the domain name has been sold to some one else. If the domain name is still available, You can register it again.
