If your remote suddenly stopped functioning, it may need to be reprogrammed. You can find detailed instructions for reprogramming an Xfinity remote here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/remote-program-the-xr2-or-xr5-to-aim-anywhere

Another cause of the remote not working, especially if it is intermittent, can be interference from another device between the remote and the TV/box, or an obstructed path. If there are other electronic devices that could be getting in the way, try moving them to see if that makes a difference.

If all else fails, it may just be time to replace the remote control. Comcast is usually good about sending out a replacement remote.
