Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update

Check for updates, let the updates install and reboot the computer. Obviously the updates will reconfigure. When it's done configuring, restart the computer to see if the problem reoccurs. If the problem reoccurs:

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Restore your computer to the last time it didn't have these issues.

Restart your computer and check to see if the problem is there.

That's all I can do from this end,

Greetings - Turn off Windows Updates as follows - go to Start > right click My Computer > click on Properties > click on the Windows Updates link somewhere on the bottom left of the window that comes up > click on the Change Settings link again on the bottom left > then set it to Never Update on the drop down menu > Save/Apply. Hope this helps

Hope that is helpful.
