It appears that the water filter housing is cracked or broken. You should inspect the housing thoroughly and replace it if any cracks are found. If however as you say the unit is just 1 day old I'd either request a replacement or repair from the retailer or (if the retailer does not accept returns) invoke the manufacturer's warranty.
