Is It 'normal' For Fruits, Vegetables And Occasionally Cans Of Soda To Freeze?

Despite keeping the temperature control between one "snowflake" and off, vegetables (especially lettuce) and fruits freeze.  The problem seems particularly bad for items at the rear of the bottom shelf.  This has been a continuing problem since the refrigerator was installed; service tech recommended a warmer setting on temperature control but that hasn't cured the problem. Does the amount of food in the refrigerator affect the efficiency of cooling (i.e. would there be less freezing of food if the refrigerator shelves were filled to capacity)?

May have a bad thermistor on the refrigerator side of the unit. Check the freezer temp, should be about zero. Check the fresh food side temp. it should be about 38 degrees. The bottom of the refrigerator is the coldest point inside as cold air falls. Check the temp about mid compartment. Over stuffing the refrigerator will cause air flow problems. You may also have a bad damper control problem. Some times a bad damper vent will stick open or freeze open and allow to much cold air into the fresh food section causeing that section to be to cold.
