I removed the inner shaft which was stuck in the switch on the pc board. I placed the broken shaft over the knob and drilled a very small hole through bothe pieces. . I put a fine wire in the hole and glued the parts together with plastic cement. The shaft has 3 grooves in it. The middle one must be up. I tested and it works. I then took very accurate measurements of the completed unit and will make a new knob using a 3D printer. Whirlpool should just sell a knob -- not a whole assembly which is on national backorder.
