Dryer Turns On But No Heat.

We are getting error code AF, we cleaned the vents and removed all lint.  My husband even took the back off and tested the thermostats.  It runs and no heat.  Could the heating element be bad or the timer.  Our warranty just ran out, can we replace these items at a reasonable cost?  We are military and do not have the estra cash.   Thank you
