Whirlpool Dishwasher Wdf510pays8 Air Gap Needed?

Do I need to install an above counter air gap for my Whirlpool WDF510PAYS8 dishwasher? Or is there already an installed valve that keeps the dirty water from the garbage disposal from entering the dishwasher?
