Condensation Problem On Glass Top Of Vegetable Shelf

I purchased the side by side whirpool refrigerator and from day 1 I have excessive condensation on the glass top inside the vegetable compartment. I believe it is due to the fact that there is a side vent from the freezer 2 inches above the glass top. The condensation aacumulates inside the veg compartment and ruins the food. What can I do about it? If I put food on top of the shelf the condesnation is worse. Any suugestion on how to fix this problem. I did have a technician in fromwhirpool and he told me it was normal, I have had other refrigerators and it's never done this....thanks
