Engine Failure

To whom it may concern, Good day. I am a Volkswagen customer who owns a Golf TSI 2010 (petrol engine), I have bought my car in Syria about a year ago, from Karkour Co. (the exclusive agent for Volkswagen in Syrian Arab Republic). I had a defect in the engine few days ago, at the agency, they told me that they contact the technical department in Germany and they advice to replace the whole engine, and I have to wait for the new engine to be shipped. They claim that the defect is a manufacture defect as a major reason and the other reason is the low quality of the local petrol. Actually, I am not convinced either about the reasons, or about the solution. Also I don’t really believe that they are capable of replacing the engine that easy outside of Volkswagen plant. However, it will be highly appreciated if you pass my inquiry to the technical department, in order to have a pleasant answer and solution from Volkswagen itself and not from the local agency here.    Plus: 1-       Is it true that the quality of our local petrol might effect such a major damage to the TSI engine ? 2-      The local technical team here in Syria, are they qualified to replace the engine exactly like the manufacture in Germany ?  The exact reflect of the problem is that the engine is working over 3 cylinder instead of 4 (one cylinder is not working at all). The whole car is vibrating, and the traction torque is much less, and an error message “check engine service” appeared.  Thank you very much in advanced.   Best regards,   Ibrahim Saluta
