Porting A Land Line Number

I have just chatted with a VM support person who tells me that I cannot port a land line number to a VM mobile phone. This contradicts what I have just read here at helpowl.com What is the reality? I do not want to get a pricey cell phone only to find that I cannot move over my home phone.

You can port your number over most of the time but there are cases where you won't be able to. It's really up to the landline provider if they are willing to release the number to another company.
