Checked Baggage Fees On Flights To Cozumel Mexico

United charges $25.00 for the first checked bag - does this mean that on a connecting flight such as Detroit-Chicago, Chicago-Cozumel (Detroit-Cozumel) there would be two $25.00 fees? One for each leg of the Detroit-Cozumel flight?

As long as your ticket shows that you are traveling from Detroit to Cozumel, with a connection in Chicago, then the checked bag fee is $25 for both flights. Same thing on the return: As long as your ticket shows you flying from Cozument to Detroit, with a connection in Chicago, you should only be charged $25 for the return flights.

It only gets complicated if you are traveling different airlines on a trip. Depending on the airlines and their "agreements" with each other, you can sometimes end up paying baggage fees per airline if you have multiple airline tickets. But for the trip you are describing, you should only pay the fee once on your trip to Cozumel and your return to Detroit.
