Firstly, in regards to the previous answer, you don't have to be a legal dependent to get USAA services. Any offspring, dependent or not, can get an account.
Secondly, I have had USAA auto insurance for 12 years and have had no problems. They have given me unexpected certain discounts, without even having to ask for them. They also gave me advice about when to switch up my coverage as my car got older. Every time I have used their roadside assistance, it has been stellar.
