Hi there, and welcome to Helpowl, I look forward to assisting you today with your question and providing the best answer possible.
These sounds originate from the system game audio channel and not from the Chat. It could be that the main audio is not connected properly (green plug). Try it with your PC, Laptop, MP3, or iPod to see if it works. Make sure all the connections are secure. If it works, then check your XBOX A/V cable. If it works, then most likely you have a faulty splitter cable. Also check the audio settings within the game itself (this has nothing to do with Xbox settings).
Make sure the black box is hooked up to the ports on the Xbox (under the power button) once that is in, the red and while adapters must be put in first into your TV, then the Xbox cables for audio come behind that. Once that's in, check your head set and look for the little black box on the wires. That allows you to turn up chat, game and bass. Turn those up. I have x12s. Just make the black box is hooked into your Xbox and the audio cables are in as well. My GT is LikeShrapnel. I'm on now if you need some help. Cheers.
