EVERYBODY's doing their taxes early this year to get their refund, so it's probably just a busy server. Wait an hour or two. Here are the reasons you will get that error:

Your computer's Internet connection or router may be configured incorrectly.
Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may be experiencing a technical problem.
A personal firewall may be blocking communication to the Internet.
The Intuit Update Server may be experiencing a technical problem.
