How can my LG290C cell phone ring when I receive a text?

First you hit the right key by the okay button....
Second make sure the alert type is set to ring only or ring and vib
Third go to the main menu
Forth go to My Folder
5TH go to Audios
Sixth my ringers
Seventh pick a ringtone you want or if you downloaded one find it.
Eighth hit options on the ringtone selected
nineth go to set as
Tenth go to message alerts and hit okay
and thats how you do that i hope it helps
