Gas Mileage

My 2011 Prius got 48-49 mpg for the first 12-14 months and ever since it has been dropping, dropping, dropping.    It is now averaging 43.9 and just last week it was 44.  At the 15,000 mile check I asked about this and it was suggested that I have the injector flushed which I did and things have continued to get worse.   What's going on?

Not too many things can affect your gas milage. Check the air pressure in all of your tires and make sure they are at the recommended pressure. Low tire pressure can lower your gas milage.

Replacing the spark plugs can help increase gas milage as well. I would also check to be sure your brakes aren't dragging a little. Have you ever used your parking (emergency) brake? If you have, be sure it is releasing completely. Even a slight brake drag will lower your gas milage.
