Flashing Car Symbol W/key

There's a flashing car symbol w/a key inside.  It's located near the 'passenger airbag' sign.  What des this mean>

This is one of the more annoying features on recent Toyota vehicles. All it means is that the key is not in the ignition. The light should go off when you insert the key into the ignition. 

The point of it is to warn a potential car thief that your security system is working and the vehicle will not start without the correct key.
