Reimbursement For Blown Ball Joint On 2001 Tacoma

Last December while driving my 2001 Tacoma the ball joint disintegrated and my wheel fell off. Upon initial contact with Toyota they denied any responsibility stating "ball joints" are under limited warranty. I later learned that there had been an actual recall for my vintage Tacoma for this very issue (because Toyota chose to use cheaper plastic versus metal for this integral component of my off-road vehicle) and upon contact with their Customer Experience Dept. was told (that although my VIN # had not been included in the recall!!!) they would indeed reimburse me. That was over 6 weeks ago. I have contacted them requesting expedited reimbursement as I now need a new clutch, and repair and replacement of my ball joints (with actual metal ones) wiped out my pocketbook. They will not honor my request. What if anything can I do to get that reimbursement sooner then later??
