Connections

I have a flat screen Samsung TV and a Motorola cable box. I am trying to connect my new Toshiba DVR620 to the system and I can't seem to get it to play correctly. Either the picture on my TV goes out or the DVD player does not record. Can someone please give me an illustrated picture of the proper connections?
