Resetting From Military Time To Am/pm Mode

I have a Timex watch that is 15-20 years old.  I have forgotten the model name.  It just says "Assembled in the Phillipines."  It has 4 buttons around the face that were labeled A thru D in the long lost manual, going clockwise from upper right to upper left.  Somehow I got the watch into 24 hour military time mode upon return to Daylight Savings time.  Now there seems to be no option to return to AM/PM mode as no AM/PM designator ever appears anymore.  What is the secret button sequence that will allow a mode switch?  I've tried everything I can think of.  I've been happy with the watch, but GRRRR!  Thanks!
