Why Can' T I Get A Signal From My Cable Box To My Tv?

I usedreceived we the remote we received from time Warner to turn on our system, tv appears to come on and box comes on but no picture or sound comes up on my tv. All that is displayed is "No Signal". We unplugged box but nothing changes. please help.
