Internet Connection Problems

we have only one wireless modem in our house and it cause a lot of ups/downs with staying connected thoughout our house. Would have an addtional modem installed correct this problem?

No, what you need to is to reconfigure the settings of your router. The only reason why your connection is intermittent because the router is not broadcasting a stable signal. Most problems like this has nothing to do with your modem, so long as the online/cable light is steady green the modem is receiving a signal. Routers are the one's who control the inbound and outbound connection.
