Engine Hot, A/c Off Display

Hi, I changed the 6 iridium spark plugs and then the engine coolant temperature gage seems that is not working because the pointer is completely down like if the car were off, then it displays the message "engine hot, a/c off", then of course the a/c does not cool, and the compressor does not want to start; I press the a/c compressor button and blinks a few times and goes off.  There are no other indicator lights or chime sounds on. Your comments are highly appreciated. Rgds and thanks.
