Stihl Wood Cutter Chainsaw Ms170 Ethanol Usage
My dealer says ethanol can influence our saws on our fuel system. But I fear something strange may happen. I want to attempt what he advised, but I fear. Is it true?

Products from STIHL may utilize gasoline mixed with up to 10% ethanol. Recommendations on fuel storage with all regular pump gasoline should be followed. Failure to store gasoline is a major fault in the fuel system components, resulting to costly motor damage.

Ethanol is an additive they are adding to Petrol now to reduce carbon emissions and maintain octane rating. However one of the side effects is that it leaves a residue in the carburetor which resembles glue and has the same effect. It would require the cleaning of the carb every winter before putting away to make sure it does not harden. It will effect small engines due to the size. Cars do not seem to have this issue but it happens in air cooled small engines. I buy the low octane fuel with 5% ethanol not the higher octane with the 10%. I am a member of the Vintage M/C club and we do not like Ethanol in our old bikes and we try to buy ethanol free fuel but it is difficult to obtain.
