Trimmer Head Locks Up
String trimmer Stihl FS 45 starts and idles just fine. When the throttle is advanced, the trimmer head locks up and won't rotate. The large plastic bump housing tightens up and locks the trimmer head against the shaft . I replaced the trimmer head with a Stihl Autocut 5-2 and the unit does the same thing, locks up and won't turn. The picture in Image 1 shows a nut that is free wheeling in both directions (don't know if that is right or not) and Image 2 shows about .030 clearance between nut and bearing housing.
