How Do I Fix My Sony Tmrrf970r Headphones

My Sony MDR-RF970R head phones are not working. This is what I have checked. the charger transmitter base is plugged in and green light comes on when tv is on. When head phones are placed on base the red light may flicker or not come on at all I have put fresh aaa btry in and power light dose not come on head phones. and no sound. What should I try next? What do you think is wrong?
